Julius Crump
- Assistant Professor of Religion; Director of Equity and Inclusion for Faculty and Academic Integration
Julius Crump is an Assistant Professor of Religion. Prior to coming to Carthage, he taught courses in Religion and Politics, Philosophies of Religion, African American Religions, and Ethical Theories. His dissertation assesses criticisms of arguments that affirm a role for religion in American politics. His current research examines African American political theories and philosophies of religion that use liberal thought as a basis for social ethics.
He has published articles on cultural studies, African American theology, Richard Rorty, and Martin Buber. He earned a B.S. from Spalding University, a M.Div. from Southern Seminary, a Th.M. from Louisville Seminary, as well as an A.M. and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
